As the tour progressed and sold out venues were the norm the next step seemed inevitable...to film & record this show for a live Album & DVD.
Recorded Live at the Evan Theatre in Penrith, 'Mates on The Road' features 35 of John Williamson's classics including 'True Blue', 'Boomerang Café', 'Galleries of Pink Galahs', 'Cootamundra Wattle', 'Raining on the Rock', 'Waltzing Matilda and 5 new songs written especially for this album. They include the 1st single 'Glory To Australia' & 'Mates On The Road'.

IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING - This song is about John's Dad, with whom he has a very special bond.
KEEPER OF THE STONES - This song was written for and about Warren H. Williams and discusses his role as an elder of his tribe, possessor of secret tribal history as the "keeper of the stones"
GLORY TO AUSTRALIA - John always finishes the end of his show with this salute and has written a song to illustrate his feelings.
